Trippy is a travel-planning app made and run by one person in the Netherlands. This page says, in plain words, what the app stores and where it goes. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
Your account
To use Trippy you create an account with your name, email address and a password. The password is stored as a hash, never as plain text. Your email address is used only to sign you in, to reset your password and to send the trip invitations you ask for.
What you put in a trip
Places, notes, day plans, expenses, checklists, diary entries and documents are stored on Trippy's server so they sync between your devices and with the people you share the trip with. Everyone who is a member of a trip can see what is in that trip.
Photos
Photos you add to the diary or to a place are uploaded to Cloudflare R2 storage and are only reachable through the app. They are never shared outside your trip.
Location
The app asks for your location only when you use something that needs it, such as adding a place near you or seeing what is nearby. Your location is not stored and not tracked in the background.
Services the app talks to
Searching for a place sends your search text to Photon (komoot), a service built on OpenStreetMap. Image search uses Openverse. Emails such as password resets and invitations are sent through Resend. Push notifications, if you turn them on, go through your device's push service. None of these receive more than what that one request needs.
Where it lives
The server and database run at Hetzner in Falkenstein, Germany, inside the European Union. Your data stays there for as long as your account exists.
Deleting your data
You can delete places, photos, expenses and whole trips yourself in the app. To delete your account and everything in it, email trippy@sandrino.nl and it will be removed within a few days.
